Yeah, That Greenville Christmas in July

Nothing like a Christmas in July party to get folks excited. The folks from the Greenville Visitors Center brought snow, Santa and holiday music to the middle of downtown Atlanta. After entering the Switchyards event center through a flurry of snowflakes, guests were treated to holiday music, amazing food and drink, holiday music, Santa and one of his elves … and of course gifts for all.

Delta Leadership Fellows at Emory's Goizueta Business School

In 2017 The Delta Airlines Foundation gave Emory's Goizueta Business School $3.5 million to start a leadership development program where MBA students learn to coach by coaching their classmates.

The program continues today for students in day and night MBA programs.

Here are few favorite photographs from their recent awards ceremony. Yes, I took photos of each student posing with their award. But in true photojournalistic fashion, my real focus was on the bigger story.

CEO of Happiness Speaks at Merit’s EPIC Conference

One of the perks of photographing corporate events is leaving inspired after listening to a motivational speaker. After all, who can’t benefit from a great motivational speech.

Merit Financial hit the inspirational speaker jackpot when they brought in Chris Gardner, author or Pursuit of Happyness, and inspiration for Will Smith’s character in the movie of the same name.

My challenge as a photographer was to capture at least one signature shot showing Gardner with storytelling context, like the one above.

After that, I knew I needed some tighter shots of Gardner gesturing, so you can see he’s making a connection with his audience.

After the speech, I wanted photos of him interacting with his audience.

And, of course, evenone there wanted posed photos with Gardner.

Proof of the Pudding Group Photo Session

The staff at Proof of the Pudding would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season.

In early December, I was called in to take a group photograph for the front of the holiday card that Proof sent out this year. You can see the group photo of the staff (at least the staff who were there that day) at the bottom of this post.

After the big group shot, Chef Vagn wanted a few photos of his fellow chefs.

While at their fabulous new corporate office in West Midtown, I was also asked to photograph members of their staff at work. Here are a few of my favorites:

Proof of the Pudding Caters New Flyer Reception at the World of Coke

The all-star crew at Proof of the Pudding put together an all-American menu for the guests attending the New Flyer Reception at the World of Coke earlier this week.

Here are a few of our favorite event photographs starring Proof of the Pudding's food.

The pretzel station, included a variety of pretzels, of course, and a special cheese soup chaser.

Looking for some down-home Southern cooking taken to the next level? You couldn't find anything better than this Proof of the Pudding Biscuit Station. It included sweet potato biscuits, garlic cheddar biscuits, buttermilk biscuits, and cornbread muffins.

If you still had room after the biscuit station, you could've moved on to the Bar-B-Que, where in addition to Bar-B-Que short ribs, you could find an awesome fried green tomato creation, or some gourmet macaroni and cheese.

Yep, here's that fried green tomato concoction I mentioned above.

And if you saved room for dessert, or even if you didn't, you would have found a dessert station with delicacies, including the chocolate cup, above.

Martin Luther King Day Parade 2015

My best man Manuel Llaneras and I headed downtown today to document the Martin Luther King Day Parade. Unfortunately, I was not as prepared as I should've been. The extra battery I brought for my Fuji camera -- the one that was on the battery charger and I assumed was charged -- was dead. So, after shooting less than 75 frames, I had to switch to taking photographs with Manuel's iphone.

On a positive note, before the battery conked out on me, I was able shoot the equivalent of two rolls of 36 exposure film, which is more than I shot on lots of newspaper assignments I covered.

Here are few favorites from my Fuji X100.
